IBERIAN SOUL

Welcome to the vibrant world of Iberian cinema, a journey that transcends the screen and immerses you in the rich tapestry of Spanish and Portuguese culture. Here, every frame is a painting, every scene a poem to the soulful rhythms of life that define this enchanting peninsula - ‘Blancanieves’ and ‘Tabu’ are two perfect examples.

From the sun-drenched streets of Seville to the haunting melodies of Fado echoing through the alleys of Lisbon, Iberian cinema is an homage to the spirit of its people.

It’s a celebration of passion and storytelling, with an artistic flair unlike most other cinema-creating regions of the world - watch five minutes of any Pedro Almodóvar film and you’ll see what I mean.

As you explore the selected films, you will better understand the soul of these Western Europeans, seen mainly from an insider’s point of view, and in the case of ‘Lisbon Story’, from an outsider’s (Wim Wenders) view.

We are delighted to partner with Chichester’s prime tapas restaurant – El Matador – for a very special Film, Flamenco & Food event where you can see last year’s Festival Surprise Film ‘A Chef for Dali’ and enjoy a tapas banquet accompanied by some live Flamenco at the atmospheric restaurant.
