Welcome to one of the most exciting seasons on our cinema calendar.
The Awards Season programme always delivers silver screen delights, both of the big-name variety (‘Ferrari’, ‘One Life’, ‘Priscilla’, ‘Poor Things’), as well as some lesser-known gems (‘Scala!!!’, ‘Society of the Snow’, ‘The Zone of Interest’). It’s also a season where we give you the chance to revisit (or discover) some Bafta and Oscar favourites (‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, ‘Barbie’, ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Past Lives’) – so do take advantage.
We have a Japanese feast for you which not only features four films from the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme (which will most likely not be distributed in the UK), but also Wim Wenders’ Tokyo-set film ‘Perfect Days’, plus Hayao Miyazaki’s critically acclaimed (final film?) ‘The Boy and the Heron’, which will have an accompanying talk of his work by Jasper Sharp.
To complement the release of the Werner Herzog documentary ‘Radical Dreamer’, we give you his seminal ‘Aguirre, Wrath of God’ plus the inimitable ‘The Enigma of Kasper Hauser’ which has been remastered in 4K. For those who like to dig deeper into film, our Education Team presents four more illustrated talks – focusing on Sofia Coppola, Holocaust Memorial Day, Women’s History Month, as well as the Miyazaki talk mentioned earlier.
