Three of the major film awards take place during the span of this Chichester Cinema 2025 Awards Season.
The Golden Globes (Sun 5 Jan) give us a taste of things to come, the Baftas (Sun 16 Feb) reveal what we Brits are into, and the Oscars (Sun Mar 2) are the zenith of all film awards. We’ll keep an eye out also for Spain’s Goya Awards (Sat Feb 8) and France’s César Awards (Fri 28 Feb) for any gems to bring to you in upcoming seasons.

We’ve added an Awards logo to films that will most likely be nominated for Oscars and Baftas, so do come and see those selections (‘We Live in Time’, ‘Nosferatu’, ‘Maria’, ‘Nickel Boys’, ‘Anora’, ‘A Complete Unknown’, ‘The Brutalist’ and many more), but keep in mind that we screen many more gems that fly under the awards radar (‘The Girl with the Needle’, ‘Hard Truths’, ‘The Order’ and ‘On Becoming a Guinea Fowl’ for example).
Talking of seasons, we are delighted to take part for the second time in the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme, where we will include four Japanese films this season, and four more in the Spring. We will feature both new and classic examples of this unique brand of cinema, known for it’s poetic, atmospheric and innovative films.

Our Education Team keep doing us proud. I keep telling anyone who will listen – try to find a better film education programme outside of the BFI in the country… I’ll wait. This season they have prepared four more film talks (look out for the logo in the brochure), not to mention the many free events put on for local schools.
