The Awards Season always sees some real quality films released, of which we are screening most of them.
As we always do, we commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day in late January, this time with three films, a talk, plus two events for school kids. We also bring back for a third consecutive year, the Japan Foundation Touring Programme which features the best in Japanese cinema over seven weeks.
We start a new monthly programming feature - Staff Choice - which sees one of our staff pick a favourite of theirs to share with our audience. Mark Hoare and Anne-Marie Flynn take the reins this season. Yes, we love film as much as all of you do.
Speaking of staff, we have a huge announcement. Our Senior Projectionist James Stokes is retiring after 28 years at Chichester Cinema.
Jim has been witness to many changes over his time: in people, technology and the industry in general, having originally started as a projectionist at The Ritz in Gosport in 1961, working in most of the cinemas around Portsmouth.
He is one of the real characters of the cinema world and will be sorely missed here at Chichester cinema.
