Spring doesn’t generally scream “let’s go to the cinema”, as the garden, some DIY, or even a round of golf may start calling. But we’re here as always, whispering irresistible cinematic temptations into your ear.
On offer are new blockbusters featuring De Niro (‘The Alto Knights’), Blanchett (‘Black Bag’) and Fiennes (‘The Return’); superb documentaries on Lennon, Twiggy, Led Zeppelin and Burton; plus talks from the Education Team on Bonhoeffer, Peter Weir and Tudor Women on screen.
We continue the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme with four more films. These include a brand new ‘Anime’ animation, a classic from post-War Japan, a modern family drama and a Samurai time-travel comedy.
In the aftermath of the Bafta and Oscar winners being announced, we give you the opportunity to revisit, or indeed, have the great pleasure of first-time viewing, of many of the nominated films. Films such as ‘The Brutalist’ and ‘Conclave’ are obvious choices, but can I suggest hidden gems such as ‘Vermiglio’, ‘Memoir of a Snail’, ‘Flow’ and ‘I’m Still Here'.
