Tony Palmer: A Selective Retrospective

10, 17 & 24 May

To coincide with the publication of his memoirs in May, we are presenting an ambitious retrospective of Tony Palmer’s work over three consecutive Sundays: 10, 17 and 24 May.

We are selecting 12 films from his vast filmography of over one hundred films, ranging from early works with The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa, to the famous portraits with and about Walton, Britten, Stravinsky, Maria Callas, Rachmaninoff, John Osborne, Leonard Cohen, Margot Fonteyn and Menuhin.

His 7-hour 45-minute film on Wagner, starring Richard Burton, Laurence Olivier and Vanessa Redgrave, was described by the Los Angeles Times as “one of the most beautiful films ever made”.
