This year our team names celebrate the cinema of Terence Stamp, David Lynch & Robert Redford. N.b. Look out for our commemorative screening of ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ in the first week of the season.
Roger Gibson has curated an amazing selection of 21 French Films from Institut Français’ FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL UK on Tour. From Wed 5 Nov to Sat 13 Dec you will be treated to the best in Francophone cinema which includes four biopics (Aznavour, Pagnol, Bernhardt and Signoret), your usual French heavyweight actors (Huppert, Depardieu, Auteuil, Blanc…), accompanied by two talks from our Education Team.
For the first time this Christmas, we present FAMILY FLICKS. An affordable initiative for the family comprising of six films at only £2.50 per person and three workshops at only £5 each, proudly supported by the BFI, Clarion Futures and Hyde. Our thanks to these three organizations for allowing us to create something unique for our community.
Look out for the four melodramas in this programme that make up the mini season TOO MUCH: MELODRAMA ON FILM. Starting with ‘Stella Dallas’ with Barbara Stanwyck on 8 Nov through to Pedro Almodóvar’s ‘Volver’ on 1 Jan, embrace the vivid visual language and heightened dramatics of melodrama, inviting you to leave your cynicism at the door and feel something. Don’t forget your tissues.
