Children’s Bookfest – Encouraging reading through film

The Children’s BookFest brings authors, poets and illustrators into local schools, providing an inclusive experience designed to inspire a love for reading and books. As a charity it is committed to encouraging children of all ages to read books, opening their minds and inspiring a love of words.

During BookFest activities, each child meets and hears an author, and receives a dedicated and signed book.  Stitch Head by Guy Bass made the leap from the pages of a much-loved book to the big screen with a special outreach event we put on in partnership with Children’s BookFest, aimed at schools and home educators.

The morning included:

• A talk from author Guy Bass, sharing the story behind Stitch Head
• A free screening of the film at Chichester Cinema
• A free copy of the book for every child to take home
• A book signing with Guy Bass on the day
• This was a brilliant opportunity for young readers to explore storytelling, creativity, and the journey from book to film – all in one inspiring morning.
