Our Film Club was created in response to the growing social isolation experienced by young people, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic. With increasing reliance on technology, social media and streaming services, many young people have fewer opportunities to meet and connect with others face-to-face.
We wanted to create somewhere different for 15 – 25 years olds: a welcoming, safe and inclusive space where young people can come along, even on their own, enjoy a great film and meet like-minded people. It’s their club — members help shape the programme by choosing the films they want to see.
Film Club is about far more than watching films. Through monthly screenings, free pizza, and quizzes, we encourage conversation, friendship and a genuine sense of belonging. We want young people to feel that the cinema is their space — somewhere they can be themselves, make new connections and become part of a community. The shared experience of cinema brings people together, educates, and provides an outlet to see the world through a different lens.
Our aim is simple: no one should have to sit at home alone when there is a welcoming community waiting for them at Chichester Cinema.
The first rule of Film Club is: You do talk about Film Club
