Where will the Drive-In be held and how will the cars be organised?
Our drive-in cinema event in partnership with Chichester Cinema at New Park will be taking place at Northgate Car Park, Chichester PO19 6AA (the car park next to the Festival Theatre). The screen will be situated at the north end of the car park near the Minerva Theatre and all cars will be directed to specially designated spaces by our friendly staff to comply with social distancing and current COVID-19 guidelines.
How do I book tickets?
How much do tickets cost? Do you have to pay per person or per car?
Price per car is £35 for all screenings apart from the screening for Onward, where the price per car is £25. As long as everyone has a seat and a seatbelt, you can bring as many people as you like in your car. Please bear in mind social distancing recommendations which currently state that only members of a single household or bubble share a car.
What time should I arrive and when does the show start?
We will open the car park one hour before the scheduled movie start time. We will email you the week before the event, giving you an arrival time within this hour; please ensure you arrive at the time stated. Please have your ticket ready on arrival – either printed or on your mobile phone – to keep any queues moving swiftly. There is no admission once the film has started and we cannot provide refunds for latecomers.
Where do the image and sound come from?
We’ll be using a high grade LED screen so that the visuals are crystal clear even during the daytime screenings. The sound will be broadcast on an FM frequency so you can listen on your car radio, or bring a portable radio or FM tuner app on your phone (make sure to check in advance of the event that your device has a compatible FM tuner app). We’ll provide the frequency prior to the screening. Please be considerate of neighbours when setting your volume.
Please remember if you plan to use your car radio this will run off your car battery, so make sure you have a fully charged battery before the screening.
I can't turn off my lights when my car is running, what should I do?
You’re welcome to run your engine to preserve the battery, but please remember to turn your lights off so you don’t dazzle your neighbours! If you can't turn off your lights when the car is running, please switch off your car engine and bring your own FM radio or use an app on your phone.
What do I do if my car battery is empty at the end of the screening?
If this happens, please wait until the others around you have left and flag down a member of staff who will come to assist you. We will have several sets of jump leads on standby should we need to help anyone get moving.
Can I walk, or bring a bike rather than a car?
This is a Drive-In event so pedestrians cannot be accommodated. We will have a limited number of spaces available for people who are arriving by bicycle or motorbike. These will need to be pre-booked via the CFT website only, and will be positioned in marked out bays at the front. You will be responsible for your bike at all times and you will need to bring your own FM radio with headphones to enjoy the audio for the film. Chairs will be provided. Tickets will be £17.50 for individuals on bikes or motorcycles.
Is there a height restriction on cars?
The maximum height for vehicles attending a screening is 2 metres. We ask that you let us know when booking if your car is over 1.5 metres in height. Taller vehicles will be directed to park in the side or rear sections to avoid obstructing other guests’ view of the screen. Vans, buses, lorries and other large vehicles are not permitted.
Will food and drink be available?
Hot food and drinks will be available at all screenings, provided by our caterers Caper & Berry. Why not book your food order in advance? You can view the menu on this link. If you have a food order with your tickets, a member of staff will check your ticket, flag your vehicle and your order will be delivered to you.
You can bring your own food with you if you choose. Please take all your litter home with you at the end of the screening.
Please remember to “THINK! Before you drink…” Driving a motor vehicle whilst under the influence of alcohol is a crime and puts yourself and those around you at risk. If you are the designated driver, please refrain from drinking alcohol.
Can I call a takeaway delivery service to my car?
No, you can’t arrange an external food delivery to the car park during the event.
Will toilet facilities be available?
The Festival Theatre toilet facilities will be open and regularly cleaned by our on-site team. We will have a queueing system in place to conform to social distancing.
We encourage you to wear a face mask if you leave your car for any reason.
Are children allowed?
Of course! We want the whole family to be able to enjoy the Drive-In cinema experience, especially for the family friendly screening of Onward on Sunday at 10:30am. We also welcome families of different ages to the other screenings; please check the certification of each film before booking to ensure it’s suitable for your children as we may need to check identification on arrival. Babes-in-arms are welcome at all screenings.
Will there be wheelchair access on site?
Yes – we have accessible toilets available in the Festival Theatre.
Can I bring a dog to the screening?
Unfortunately not, unless they are a registered assistance dog; please bring recognised documentation.
Can I smoke in my car?
No smoking on the premises please!
What happens at the end of the show?
In order to ensure all vehicles can leave the Northgate Car Park efficiently, our staff will be guiding cars to the exits, row by row in a calm and timely manner. Please don’t start your engine until you are directed to do so by staff and take any litter home with you.
Will I be refunded if the event is cancelled due to a change in government guidelines?
In the event of a cancellation by us, we offer a 100% money back guarantee on tickets.
