A woman returns to her Orthodox Jewish community that shunned her for her attraction to a female childhood friend. Once back, their passions reignite as they explore the boundaries of faith and sexuality.
New York based photographer Ronit (Rachel Weisz) rushes home to London after hearing about her preacher father’s death. She didn’t know her two dearest childhood friends, Dovid (Alessandro Nivola) and Esti (Rachel McAdams), are now husband and wife. When Dovid, a disciple of her father’s, invites Ronit to stay with them, the fuse is lit and desire - long repressed - explodes between the two women. This delicately handled tale of romance and acceptance is Sebastián Lelio’s follow up to his Academy Award-winning ‘A Fantastic Woman’ (2017 Best Foreign Language Film).
