Ethnographic film in the early twentieth century
Between the 1890s and 1940s previously isolated peoples living in rainforests, deserts and Arctic tundra were radically transformed by modernity. Paul Henley will show and evaluate examples from newly available archival documentary material from this period. Paul Henley is an anthropologist who trained in documentary at NFTS and was Director of the Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology, University of Manchester, 1987-2014. 120m
