And The Wall Came Tumbling Down
FROM 31 Oct

1989–2009
Developing from the New Wave in German Cinema in the 1960s-80s, the momentous events that followed the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Berlin Wall, a very talented new group of directors emerged to explore key issues both in German and in wider European society.
This illustrated talk, by Mike Jennings and John Harte of the cinema’s Education Team, will explore German Cinema’s astonishingly rich and wide-ranging output in the 20 years after the Wall came down in 1989, analysing its key themes, directors and films, through many film extracts, discussing the increasing impact they have had on both German and international audiences.
