Diane Kruger is once again outstanding (she won Best Actress at Cannes 2017 for this role), in this unsettling film which earned director Fatih Akin a Palme D’Or nomination.
Out of nowhere, Katja's (Kruger) life falls apart when her husband Nuri (Numan Acar) and little son Rocco are killed in a bomb attack. The mind-numbing search for the perpetrators and reasons behind the senseless killing complicate Katja's painful mourning, opening wounds and doubts.
Danilo (Denis Moschitto), a lawyer and Nuri's best friend, represents Katja in the eventual trial against the two suspects, but the ordeal pushes Katja to the edge - she wants justice. ‘Queens of the Stone Age’ frontman Josh Homme composed the film’s score, whose discordant sounds add an appropriate edginess.
