Zones Of Interest

Jonathan Glazer’s film of Martin Amis’ novel ‘The Zone of Interest’ unites two formidable talents. Glazer forged a reputation as a director of iconic TV commercials before his feature debut ‘Sexy Beast’ in 2000.
Amis’ trademark was a pyrotechnic prose style that he perfected in satirical comedies like ‘Money’ (1984).
Nick Johnston-Jones of the Cinema Education Team, traces the careers of both men, from shared apprenticeships in advertising to the mature landmarks of their later work, and how their unique story-telling visions converged in this project.
It also considers Glazer’s film in the context of the expanding genre of Holocaust fiction and filmmaking.
