A man seeks to break free from his predetermined path and tries to take control of his own life; a policeman is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.

There is always a clamouring of A-listers to get into a Lanthimos film, and this one has a few regulars (Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley) and a couple of newcomers (a brilliant Jesse Plemmons, Hong Chau). For those of you who discovered Lanthimos with ‘The Favourite’ or ‘Poor Things’, get ready to meet the original ‘Dogtooth’ version - unfiltered, uncut, old-school Yorgos.
