A moving true story about volunteers protecting antelope against poachers in the severe mountains of Tibet.
In ‘Mountain Patrol’, director Lu Chuan gives us a fictionalised account of the real-life volunteer team who in the 90s patrolled China's huge, and sparsely beautiful, Kekexili nature reserve, fighting a running battle against armed poachers.
Lu Chuan's mastery of filmmaking is that you expect to despise the poachers but somehow you end up understanding their plight as much as that of the patrol. The harsh beauty and sheer power and majesty of the images command attention.
