This film is not currently scheduled to screen at New Park.
A young Englishwoman spends twenty years to make whatever kind of life for herself, at the expense of others around her, in post-World War II England.
In this provocative drama, the discontent of bored British housewife Susan Traherne (Meryl Streep) only increases when she begins reminiscing about how she played a key role in the French Resistance during WW II. Now that the war has ended, she feels useless and that her life has no meaning. Her emotional turmoil causes her to become increasingly isolated from her friends and family. The highly symbolic story is based on a play by David Hare.
