FILMS

Between the Piers
One woman’s reluctant search of the beach to find her grieving mother’s wedding ring uncovers something far more valuable. This emotionally intricate drama about a woman and her estranged mother deals with the complexities of isolation, friendships and community at a rundown seaside town.
UK; Directed by Kate Cheeseman; 15m

Clíodhna
From a community in decline, a young woman facing emigration is drawn into the otherworld, where the hidden ties between language, land and belonging are revealed to her. This is a love letter to the Irish language and an expression of what is lost when a language were to die.
Ireland/Germany; Directed by Aaron Ryan; 10m

Dropping
Homeless and down on his luck, Jasper exists on begging and finding dropped coins, and even the seagulls seem to plague him wherever he goes. But just when he thinks he might end it all, Jasper comes to realise that a curse might be a blessing after all.
UK; Directed by Justin Bulpett & Daniel Caynes; 10:46m

Echoes in Amber
A music executive ambushes his favourite but most difficult band, determined to force their hand and finally uncover why their long-overdue album remains unfinished. Filmed locally at Stansted House.
UK; Directed by Oliver Murray; 12m

The Final Cut
When one of the lead actors is murdered on set, the level-headed 1st AD, Clara, and an eager debut cast member, Eimear, take it upon themselves to figure out who the murderer is. University of Chichester graduate film.
UK; Directed by Tolly Johnson; 11:52m

James Hyde
In the white heat of WWII, James Hyde, a Trinidadian RAF fighter pilot, faces impossible odds for freedom and love over the skies of Nijmegen. Based on a true story, this short blends breath-taking aerial combat, powerful storytelling and a tribute to forgotten heroes.
UK; Directed by Benjamin Uttley; 10m

King Karno
A clown falls passionately in love with a mannequin, embarking on a mad courtship that is ultimately shattered by a sudden return to reality. With echoes of Charlie Chaplin and films of the early 20th century.
USA; Directed by Richard Thompson; 3m

King of Ash
Afraid to miss his big break, an overconfident comedian finds himself chasing time after he stumbles into the wrong building on his way to the Full-Swing comedy show.
UK; Directed by Luke McCaffery; 11:22m

Meet Frankie
When 30-year-old Guy tells his parents he is living with someone and finally happy, he also has to come out to his father. Wanting to be supportive, the parents invite Frankie for Sunday lunch. A potential disaster looms that will hurt everyone and help nobody. Can they rise to the moment with grace?
UK; Directed by Steven Kunis; 13:57m
