It has always proven a very popular part of the programme – even after the credits have rolled.
In fact, two Surprise Films of past years have ended up taking home the Audience award for Best Film (‘Untouchable’ and ‘Pride’). While I won’t give any real clues as to the identity of the film, what I can say is that it has echoes of a huge 1988 USA release – but it’s not necessarily an American film – and will have you leaving the auditorium with sore cheeks (not saying which type) and maybe complaining that something may have got in your eye.
