Jonathan Demme’s chiller thriller, starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, returns to New Park for one night only (30 Apr). Includes a short introduction by Gareth Evans.
Clarice Starling (Foster) is a top FBI student who lands a special assignment: a vicious murderer nicknamed Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine). To help her investigation, she interviews brilliant psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins), who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars. Lecter skilfully digs into her psyche, forcing her to reveal her innermost traumas and putting her in a position of vulnerability when she can least afford to be weak.
Showered with awards upon its release (one of only three films to have won the five main Oscars – Film, Director, Actor, Actress & Screenplay) this is one of the great thrillers of the last 30 years, and remains as vital and horrific today.
Includes a short introduction by Gareth Evans.
