Written by Dame Eileen Atkins, this is the fascinating true story about the love affair between socialite and popular author Vita Sackville-West and literary icon Virginia Woolf.

Socialite Vita (Gemma Arterton) and literary icon Virginia (Elizabeth Debicki) run in different circles in 1920s London. When the two cross paths, the magnetic Vita decides the beguiling, stubborn and gifted Virginia will be her next conquest, no matter the cost.

Vita and Virginia forge an unconventional affair, set against the backdrop of their own strikingly contemporary marriages; an affair that inspires one of Virginia's most iconic novels, 'Orlando'. Australian actress Debicki is excellent (unsurprisingly given her talent) as Virginia Woolf, making her somehow both enthralling and off-putting at the same time.

Arterton has the more extroverted role as Sackville-West, the vivacious society girl and popular author - bigger sales than Woolf - who balances life as an acceptably unconventional ambassador’s wife with her desire to bed almost everyone she meets.

This is a classic case of opposites attract, one built on a mutual love of the written word they share in markedly different ways. Their approaches are opposing but the chemistry is undeniable.
