THE LUMIERE: Our New Festival Venue

We are excited to reveal a new venue for this year – THE LUMIERE!

You may have noticed that over 40 films at this year’s Chichester International Film Festival are to be screened at The Lumiere.

This is an 80-seater mobile cinema which is fully equipped to project films using cinema equipment of very high specifications.

It arrives as an articulated lorry, and after the press of a magic button, unfolds into 10 rows of 8 comfortable seats. The images does not do it justice, so take advantage of the 2 Free Lumiere screenings on the 13 and 14 August, to see for yourself (no bookings required).

In its past life, it was used by the Armed Forces in Scotland, doing the rounds of the bases in the most inaccessible parts of the country, to screen the newest films to the troops. The team at the Windmill Cinema in Littlehampton took it over, and we are delighted to be working with them to bring you wonderful films in a unique setting.

The Lumiere will be situated on the north side of the New Park Centre car park. The trade off is that we have had lose a handful of parking spaces, so do make sure you are early to your screenings… as we usually don’t show any trailers before each Festival film.
