In Detail

Growing up in a small town with his mother and younger sister, Beau (Joaquin Phoenix) is haunted by a traumatic event from his past.

His anxiety worsens when his mother starts dating a new man, and Beau becomes convinced that this man is dangerous. As Beau's fears spiral out of control, he must confront his past and find a way to overcome his anxiety in order to protect his family.

The film transforms out of the mundanity of reality and into a fantastical world of surrealism, all the while exploring the power of human connection.
