In a heart-wrenching scene where already in the vulnerable and overwhelming position of having her first baby, Angela struggles to lip-read the myriad midwives in the room; in another we witness an irritable exchange with a shop assistant selling a hearing aid who cannot understand her. The title refers not only to Angela, but to a society that is simply not prepared for them and doesn’t really listen.
