Kimitachi wa dô Ikiru Ka

This is a quintessential Studio Ghibli movie, with a young protagonist (named Mahito) facing off against a fantastical world while coming to terms with their own complex reality. He enters a magical world with a talking grey heron after finding an abandoned tower in his new town.
Soulfully exploring thought-provoking themes through a beautifully animated lens, ‘The Boy and the Heron’ is another Miyazaki masterpiece. If this really is his last film (as reported), it is an astonishing farewell – a parable with all the freedom and fantasy of childhood itself.
We will be screening both the original Japanese language (subtitled) and the English dubbed versions (inc. Christian Bale & Willem Dafoe).
